Refurbishment Works at Excelsior Stadium Get Underway

Refurbishment works get underway at Airdrieonians’ Excelsior Stadium in preparation for “The Wonderful Crazy Night” tour of Elton John.  The Moffat Group are excited to be part of this iconic evening and have started work on the electrical testing of the stadium to upgrade the facilities and ensure the best possible experience for all spectators.  Working closely with The Bell Group the stadium is having a complete refurbishment with teams of painters on site for the past few weeks.

Paul Hetherington, Excelsior Stadium’s managing director, told the Advertiser: “We have embarked on a redecoration programme to make sure that the stadium is looking its best so that it’s a good advert for Airdrie and the stadium as a venue – and to encourage other big acts to come to our town.

“I’m thoroughly looking forward to the concert itself. We have been working with Moffat and Bells over the past few weeks, two big Airdrie-based companies.  It has been all hands on deck and will continue to be so until the big day on June 24.”

Craig Moffat, managing director of Moffat Group, has offered his company’s services for free.  He explained: “The concert will be fabulous; it will be a great event for Airdrie. It has taken a fair bit of resources and time and effort to put it together.  I’ve know Paul [Hetherington] from school and when he asked us to help out I was happy to volunteer our services.  Overall we’ve had about half a dozen guys working on the stadium on all the electrical and mechanical work.

“We have helped to ensure that their safety standards are up to scratch.”

The Reel House Works Re-Start

[metaslider id=432]

The works get underway again at what is going to be The Reel House on Renfield Street in Glasgow.  The iconic building which used to be the Odeon Cinema is being re-vamped and changed into offices.  Given the specific site and nature of the building there have been some challenges with partial closing of Renfield Street to allow for the materials to be lifted into position by cranes.

Work begins on the Dean Castle Refurbishment

Preliminary works are underway as part of the refurbishment of the current visitor centre and development of an urban farm, involving the stripping out and downtaking of existing services ready for the main works to begin.  The works carried out are part of a £4m investment by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s “Parks for People” and the aim is to create a Centre for Educational Excellence and a Visitor Orientation Hub along with a new Centre for Rural Life.

Parks for People funding helps to conserve the heritage that makes historic parks special. And it gives local people a say in how they are managed in the future. Projects improve people’s wellbeing and knowledge of their area, and make communities better places to live, work and visit.
