New Visitor Centre at Dean Castle Country Park

[metaslider id=703]Following on from our story in February this year works at the newly refurbished visitor centre at Dean Castle Country Park are now complete.  The works carried out are part of a £4m investment by the Heritage Lottery Fund’s “Parks for People” and the aim is to create a Centre for Educational Excellence and a Visitor Orientation Hub along with a new Centre for Rural Life.

Parks for People funding helps to conserve the heritage that makes historic parks special. And it gives local people a say in how they are managed in the future. Projects improve people’s wellbeing and knowledge of their area, and make communities better places to live, work and visit.

Works on the Centre for Rural Life are still ongoing and expected to be completed before the end of the year so the park can be fully operational for new visitors in the spring 2018.  With the enhanced experience for visitors it is expected that the centre will be key to the ongoing success of the park as a tourist and educational attraction nationwide.

Work Commences at Auchinairn’s New Community Centre

Moffat Electrical Services secured the M&E package for the works to be done at Auchinairn’s new community centre.

Auchinairn’s new community facility and early years centre, being built as part of the Council’s Auchinairn Place Project, is set to benefit from £1.5m from the Scottish Government’s Regeneration Capital Grant Fund (RCGF)*.

The building, due to open next spring, will be on the site of the old Auchinairn Primary and will provide a range of facilities for local people including a nursery, a community hall, café, meeting rooms, play area and much more.

Depute Chief Executive for Place, Neighbourhood and Corporate Assets, Thomas Glen, said, “In consultation with local people, this new centre has been designed to offer the community of Auchinairn a focal point for groups to meet and for people to access services and activities.

The new underfloor heating has just been installed and work continues to have the facilities in place for the local community as soon as possible.

Works Complete at Huntershill Sports Centre

Works are now complete at the newly upgraded Huntershill Community Sports Hub.  Community sport hubs are Lottery-funded and are one of sportscotland’s key programmes which contributes to Legacy and supports local sport clubs to play their part in a world class sporting system.

Following the investment the new changing areas and facilities are proving a great hit with the local community groups who use the facilities.  The work is continuing to deliver a long-term ambition for a major new community sports facility to provide better sports facilities for youngsters and clubs within the Dunbartonshire area.

Moffat Group Install Pioneering Viega Megapress System

The new Viega Megapress press connection system was specified by design consultants working at the complex site at the Rockvilla centre which is the new headquarters of the National Theatre Scotland (NTS).  The technically advanced system was an ideal solution, allowing the us install a new heating system into the complex site quickly, easily.

The £6.5 million development of the Rockvilla centre will be the headquarters of the National Theatre Scotland (NTS), allowing the theatre group for the first time to have its rehearsal and production activities under one roof. The building will consist of three rehearsal rooms, creative development spaces, a learning and community suite, production workshop, technical store, office space, meeting and social areas.

The Rockvilla centre required the installation of a new heating system within the 3,700 square metre space. For such a complex site, the consultants required a solution that was reliable and would help to reduce installation time.

Installed by Moffat Facilities Ltd in just five months, the system saves up to 60% of assembly time compared to traditional tube connection methods such as welding or threading – both of which can affect the integrity of the tube wall. The Megapress system also provides a clean connection due to its pressing function, meaning there is no excess cutting oil, metal swarf, hemp residue or jointing compound that would be used with traditional methods. Therefore valuable time was saved as the system did not require flushing to remove any residual installation debris.

The installation at the Rockvilla centre required 500 connections of the thick-walled steel fittings ranging from 15mm to 54mm, which was easy to achieve from Viega’s comprehensive selection of fittings ranging from ½” to 2”.

William Giplin, Mechanical Project Engineer at Moffat Mechanical commented on the installation: “Having worked with the system before, we knew just how easy the Megapress would be to use. Using a single press gun, the connections can be achieved in the most confined spaces – completing a full seal in a single press. With the large Rockvilla site and over 500 connections of thick walled steel tube to be made, this was crucial. We are so impressed with the Megapress system that we are continuing to use it on other sites.”
